Miniwasps

Fly parasites

(Nasonia Vitripennis, Muscidifurax Zaraptor, Spalangia Cameroni)

- used for straw-bedding

__________________________________________________________________________

Miniwasps searching for stablefly pupae to parasite on, and will not harm animals or humans in any way. The adult miniwasp is feeding on pupa stage and laying eggs into pupae. The developing miniwasp larvae parasites the fly larvae. After 3-4 weeks a new generation of miniwasps hatches.

Release the miniwasps at the fly breeding site before flies become a problem. Place the bag on a warm place and open it along the perforated line, and stread it along the edge of the box. Within the following days the miniwasps will hatch and spread searching for stablefly pupae to parasite on. Drop an extra small handful of sawdust and pupae ( about a tablespoon ) from the bag in "Hot Spots" where flies are crawling and breeding.

Rates for 1 unit = 100 m2

or:

  • 1 – 10 horses
  • 10 – 20 cows/cattle
  • 1 – 2000 poultry
  • 50 – 100 pigs
  • 50 – 100 small animals

Simultaneously bait product can be used to control adult flies.

Small portions of miniwasps repeatedly releases throughout the breeding season are more effective than large single releases. Release every 1-2 weeks during all warm months. Start in early spring.
