The predatory fly (also known as the black dump fly or slurry fly) is very useful in controlling other types of flies in stables. It is about half the size of an ordinary stable fly and has a blank back.
The predatory fly is thriving in the manure channel where the predatory fly larvae eat from all other fly larvaes that exist in the manure.
Therefore no resistance can develop from using predatory flies, as can be the case when using chemicals. Baby carries many names and the predatory fly is also knows under names as miljøfluen, rovfluen etc.
The Latin term for predatory flies is Hydrotaea Aenescens. Predatory flies do not harm humans or animals.
